Van de Zandschulp, meanwhile, reached the third round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career.
He failed in June in Hertogenbosch and Mallorca but reached the semi-finals in London. He beat Grigor Dimitrov (7-6, 6-3) and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (6-2, 6-4) at the Queen’s Club.
At Wimbledon, Botic started off with a convincing win over Feliciano Lopez (6-2, 6-3, 6-3), before beating Emil Ruusuvuori (3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4).
Botic has three wins in his last five matches against lower-ranked opponents.
