RB Leipzig vs Bayer Leverkusen Predictions and Betting Tips
RB Leipzig vs Bayer Leverkusen Key Stats
- Only Bayern Munich have claimed more travelling Bundesliga points than Leverkusen this season.
- Leverkusen are the only team to remain unbeaten away from home in the Bundesliga during the current campaign.
- Only one team has conceded fewer away-day goals than Leverkusen in the Bundesliga this term.
Home comforts
For Leipzig, the season hasn’t exactly gone to plan as of yet. Sunday’s hosts have been by no means poor, but a current position of seventh doesn’t exactly match their lofty expectations following three consecutive top-three finishes. Inconsistency has been the main issue, especially of late. Jesse Marsch’s men haven’t won back-to-back games since the first week of October, in fact, they’ve only won two on the bounce once all season. Therein lies the problem.
Playing at home has provided Leipzig with plenty of relief in recent weeks. They’ve won each of their last four at Red Bull Arena, securing a massive win over Dortmund last time out in front of a home crowd. A repeat of that performance ought to see the hosts do well on Sunday.
Leverkusen languishing
The visitors finally regained the winning thread last time out, as they beat newly promoted Bochum by a goal to nil on home soil, though it’s probably too soon to say whether they’ve turned a corner or not. In general, they’ve been struggling to make progress, winning none out of four in the league prior to their victory last weekend.
Somewhat strangely, the visitors have been at their strongest on the road, or at least their away-day results have been pleasing. Gerard Seoane’s men are unbeaten in six on the road this season, winning three. Only Bayern have collected more travelling points than Leverkusen in the Bundesliga this term, so it’s clear that they’re not a side that is easy to host.
RB Leipzig vs Bayer Leverkusen Predictions
In the betting, Leipzig are hotly fancied, and their recent home record has a lot to do with such favouritism. However, given that they come here off the back of tasting defeat last weekend, coupled with the fact that they’re going up against one of the best travellers in the division, who happen to be three points better off in the standings currently, odds of 17/20 are hugely unappealing.
In fact, at the current odds, the visitors make no shortage of appeal. Not only are Leverkusen the second-highest away point scorers in the division, but they also have the second-best travelling goal difference, as well as the second-best average expected goal difference at +0.58. At attractive odds, Seoane’s side, with the insurance that ‘Draw No Bet’ provides, are easily worth a chance.
