Both Forest and Wolves have made good starts to the season with Forest sitting in eighth and just two points behind Wolves in fourth.

After losing two on the spin, Forest managed to recover last time out by winning against recently-relegated Sunderland.

The Reds were really poor at the back last season and their record of 72 goals conceded was the second-worst in the division. Unfortunately for them, that trend seems to have continued this term with Forest keeping just two clean sheets in all competitions so far. Additionally, their Goals Against record of 11 in seven league matches is the worst in the top 13. Having said that, they do somewhat make up for this in the final third with their current goal per game average reading 1.4.

Prior to losing against Leeds United before the international break, Mark Warburton’s side had an excellent record at the City Ground with victories in all three of their competitive matchings. However, it is worth noting that they have kept just one clean sheet on their own patch this season.

Following their barnstorming start to the campaign, Wolves have petered out a little bit in recent weeks with no back-to-back wins in their five matches since mid-August. Having said that, they are still unbeaten in their last four in all competitions.

The Wolves’ defence took a bit of a battering last time out as they conceded three against Bristol City. However, in the context of the season so far, this was an unusually bad performance as, prior to that match, they had kept three consecutive clean sheets. In terms of the final third, the fact that Nuno’s side managed to draw against Bristol City, despite conceding three times, shows just how good their forward line is. Wolves’ record of 11 league goals scored is the joint-third-best in the division and they have found the back of the net in all but one of their competitive outings so far.

Wolves have been fantastic on the road this campaign with three wins from their four competitive matches so far – losing none in that time.

Recent history sides with Wolves here as they have won two out of the last two meetings. However, Forest have been decent at home this season so I am not sure which way this game will go. I think there will be a couple of goals here, although Wolves’ excellent defence makes me think there will not be more than three in total. With this in mind, I am going for 2-3 Goals Exact at 11/10. This bet would have won in each of the last six meetings between the two sides as well as in all of Forest’s home matches so far.
