Lens vs Paris Saint-Germain: Prediction and Betting Tips
— Paris Saint-Germain (@PSG_English) December 2, 2021
Lens must be in better shape for the league leaders
Despite four losses and five draws from 16 matches this season, Lens still find themselves in the fifth position. In addition with the gap being just three points with second-placed Marseille, The Blood and Gold will fight for a top-four finish. However, they need to come out of a three-match winless streak that saw them lose ground at the top. Especially with their last draw at Clermont.
In fact, Clermont were the better side in the match with 19 goals attempts of which seven were on target. Surely, this shows that Lens need to improve immensely as they host leaders PSG. Obviously, boss Franck Haise needs to work on his defense as they conceded eight goals in their last four outings. Probably, Haise can copy some of the tactics used by Nice in PSG’s last match!
Just a bad day at the office for PSG
Lionel Messi’s Ballon D’Or win was marred by PSG’s disappointing 0-0 draw at home with Nice. Notably, that was Les Parisiens’ second draw of the season and it came after a four-match winning streak. Surely, coach Pocchetino will hope that goal drought won’t last for long. Since already the Argentine is under pressure because of some unconvincing performances lately.
Nevertheless, PSG have the best scoring average in Ligue 1 with 2.19. However, against Nice, 22 goal attempts of which five on target were not enough for the Parisians to get on the scoresheet. Moreover, this was only the second time that PSG failed to score. The other one was during their draw with Marseille 0-0. Hence, whether the expectations of winning by big margins affect the PSG players needs to be seen in the coming games.
Lens vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction
PSG let their fans and bettors down in their last match with their goalless draw. Indeed it’s hard to imagine a lineup of Mbappe, Messi, and Di Maria are not capable of scoring. With Messi opening his goals account in Ligue 1 just two matches ago, Mbappe emerged as his team’s top scorer with seven goals.
The bookies are paying 1.66 for a PSG win as the favorites. However, we prefer to combine that with a total goals combo bet to minimize the risks. Thus looking at the goals stats, there is an 81% chance of under 4.5 goals to be scored. We can see that in Lens’s and PSG’s last three matches where the same amount was scored.
Consequently, with odds of 1.47 at Vbet, we find that a double chance outcome and under 4.5 goals has a very good probability. As for our second prediction, we will back over 2.5 goals since Lens’s last three matches saw that outcome.
