Full marks for the Azzurri after two games
The Squadra Azzurra have been a different team under Roberto Mancini. After failing to reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Mancini was put in charge and Italy are unbeaten since then in 28 matches. This run has raised the confidence and motivation of everyone in Italy and much is expected from the Azzurri in this Euro 2020 finals.
Mancini’s men registered two 3-0 wins over Turkey and Switzerland. In both games, Italy dominated with their ball possession game and high-pressure defensive tactic which is allowing Donnaruma’s goal to be threatened in the least possible way as we saw in the two games when the Milan goalkeeper had to deal with just one shot on his goal.
Offensively, Berardi, Immobile, and Insigne are having a great tournament and are causing real danger in the offensive third. The attacking trio are having the best possible assistance from the midfield trio of Jorginho, Barella, and Lucatelli who scored two goals against Switzerland.
Italy key points
- Italy haven’t conceded a goal in ten matches
- Italy have won and scored in each of their last ten matches
- Three goals per match is Italy’s average in the last ten matches
A second-round appearance on the tables for Wales
Four points after two matches is considered a very good start for Wales in Euro 2020. The Welsh team didn’t impress in their friendly matches prior to the Euro losing to France 3-0 and drawing goalless with Albania. But Robert Page’s team are playing very tactical games.
In the first game against Switzerland, the Welsh tried to use their attacker’s speed and rely on counterattacks. After conceding in the 49th minute, Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey led their team in attack as the Welsh raised a gear and moved forward and were able to equalize and grab a crucial point.
It was a tricky match against Turkey as both teams needed the win. The Welsh team played a very balanced game not letting the Turks have clear-cut chances and at the same time Ramsey and Bale were using all their skill and experience to keep the Welsh offense effective and that resulted in a wonderfully played goal by Ramsey off Bale’s assist.
Wales key points
- Wales had 40% of ball possession in their first two games
- Just one shot on goal was recorded by Wales in their match against Switzerland
- The last time Wales played Italy was in 2003 and lost 4-0
Roberto Mancini will make sure they don’t face any surprises as a defeat would hand the Welsh the lead of the Group. Italy are in great form probably the best form they have been in since the 2006 World Cup. Consistency is key in such tournaments and Mancini will make sure his team doesn’t lose focus.
The welsh team have some calculations to do. They must avoid losing by a big margin. With four points they will most probably qualify to the next round but they prefer to finish at least second to avoid a group winner in the knockout stage.
Italy are the favorites to win with 1.50 at Vbet and the probability with the bookies for that result is 100%. We will back that for our primary prediction. There is also a very interesting market ob Vbet which is a double chance for both teams to score or over 2.5 goals.
