England
The English reach the semi-finals after thrashing the Ukrainians 4-0, and, at the same time, quashed the criticisms levied against them that they lack offensive play. They have also kept up their good defensive game and have now gone five Euro games in a row without conceding a goal.
The English are now the favourites to win this year’s Euros and there is another factor working to their advantage: if they reach the final, the English will have have played six of their seven matches in front of their fans (including the final).
Denmark
The Danes sneaked into the semi-final after eliminating the Czech Republic in a game in which the Danes dominated the first half with the two goals, but faced a barrage from the Czechs in the second.
The last meeting between Denmark and England did not go badly for the Danes, as in that match played in October last year they managed to win 1-0. This will give them real hope and the belief that they can once again beat the strong English side.
Key Stats
- 11 consecutive matches without losing for England, comprising ten wins and one draw
- Seven consecutive matches without conceding goals for England
- Three consecutive wins for Denmark
- Denmark’s last four matches have ended with over 2.5 total match goals
England vs Denmark Predictions
Given the defensive strength seen in the English side lately, the improved understanding of their game by the strikers and the fact that they are playing at home at Wembley, we see the English as favourites for this match.
The Danes have shown that they love to play attacking football, irrespective of who their opponents are. It may favour the English to have more space up front, and therefore, it is likely to be an open game with more than 2.5 total goals.
