Daniil Medvedev vs Stefanos Tsistsipas prediction for Friday’s semi final clash in the 2021 Australian Open. Number four seed Medvedev takes on number six seed Tsitsipas in what promises to be a mouthwatering contest. Read on for our free prediction and betting tips.

Daniil Medvedev bidding for his second Grand Slam final

Medvedev proved he is one of the main contenders for this year’s Australian Open, after beating compatriot  and in form Andrey Rublev in three sets. The Russian has been in great form in the past months. He won the Paris Masters and ATP Tour Finals and last month he won the ATP cup with Russia.

He reached the semi final after dropping just two sets, both in his third round win against Krajinovic. Medvedev has all the weapons to reach the final. He has been solid and showed great will power to win.

Amazing win in the quarters for Stefanos Tsistipas

He didn’t just beat the 2nd seed Rafael Nadal in the quarter final but Tsitsipas came from two sets down to beat the Spaniard, something very rarely done. That should give the Greek number six a confidence boost going into his third Grand Slam semi final.

Tsitsipas has never beaten Medvedev on hard courts, losing in their three meetings so far. The Russian also leads their head to head with 5-1. The only win for Tsitsipas was in the 2019 ATP Tour Finals.

The Greek has played four matches to reach the semis after his opponent Berrettini didn’t play due to injury.

Key Stats

  • Medvedev has hit 42% of his total winning points winners.
  • Tsitsipas has hit 39% of his total winning points winners
  • Medvedev has won 80% of the points behind his first serve and 55% of his second serve points
  • Tsitsipas has won 83% of the points behind his first serve and 61% of his second serve points

Daniil Medvedev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction

Medvedev has all the weapons that can be difficult for Tsitsipas to deal with. The Russian’s first serve has been incredible in this tournament with 11.4 aces per game.

Medvedev has also one of the best backhands in the world. His flat double hander is definitely stronger than that of Tsitsipas’s one-handed backhand.

Tsitsipas has to be at his best if he wants to trouble the Russian. The greek has struggled with his backhand down the line throughout the tournament and that may give the advantage to Medvedev in the longer rallies.
