Preliminary review and match prediction for Brighton vs Norwich City

Six straight defeats sees Brighton on the worst league form joint with their opponents. Fortunately for the Seagulls their 33 points amassed in the league likely sees them safe from relegation for another year.

To Brighton’s credit three of these defeats have come against Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United. However, a 3-0 home defeat to Burnley does not instil confidence for the home support, while the games against Newcastle and Aston Villa you would expect Brighton to be more competitive in.

The sole goal in this six-game losing run came from central defender, Lewis Dunk and for a side who have scored just ten home goals all season it is very difficult to see where the goals are going to come from.

The only comfort could be that Norwich have conceded 63 goals this season.

The Canaries are fighting for their Premier League lives as they are eight points adrift of 17th placed Everton with the Merseysiders having played two less games.

Coming up against a side on equally poor form, nothing but a win will do for Norwich.

Just like Brighton, Norwich have faced some tough opposition in their six-game losing run having been unfortunate enough to have faced the top three sides.

Their 2-1 defeat against Leeds last time out though could have been the hammer blow to the Canaries’ survival hopes.

Brighton hopes to have Tariq Lamptey back after he had to withdraw from England U21 duty due to illness. Adam Webster and Adam Lallana will miss out due to injury while Alexis Mac Allister will need assessing after international duty.

Grant Hanley may come into the Norwich side after a bout of Covid. Christoph Zimmermann is expected to recover from an eye issue while Adam Idah and Andrew Omobamidele are both ruled out.
