Villa on Targett again
Aston Villa made it two wins out of two for new boss Steven Gerrard as he became the first Villa manager since John Gregory in 1998 to win his first two Premier League matches in charge.
In an entertaining game, Villa took the lead early as Matt Targett scored, then Villa secured all three points with a late goal from John McGinn to make it 2-0 as Crystal Palace were threatening an equaliser. Palace later scored a consolation deep into injury time.
Gerrard will face the toughest test of his young managerial career as Villa welcome a rampant Manchester City to Villa Park.

Five of the best from City
Man City won at home to West Ham on Sunday to take their winning streak in all competitions to five.
Goals from Ilkay Gundogan and late substitute Fernandinho secured the three points. West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini scored a very late consolation for the Hammers.
After watching leaders Chelsea drop points to Manchester United, City will see this as an ideal opportunity to keep the pressure firmly on the Londoners with a win away against a resurgent Villa.
Aston Villa vs Manchester City predictions
This game now looks to be a tougher challenge for Man City than it may have done a month ago, however, City alongside Liverpool and Chelsea are playing in a league of their own and we can’t see Villa upsetting the apple cart.
Due to the differences in first half form between the two sides we believe Man City will take a first half lead and keep Villa at bay. We therefore predict that Man City half-time, Man City full-time.
Aston Villa are a far better second half team than first half. At home they’ve scored eight second half goals compared to just three first half goals. Although we believe City will win this one reasonably comfortably, we predict Villa will score in the second half.
