Real Madrid set their sights on 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation

Real Madrid have made a bid for 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation Ivan Fresneda, who made his debut for Real Valladolid.

According to the Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Ivan Fresneda has emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. The reigning La Liga champions are considering signing Real Valladolid’s 18-year-old defensive sensation next year.

Ivan Fresneda is one of Spain’s most promising young full-backs, having grown in stature since joining Real Valladolid. The 18-year-old is a Madrid native who spent his early years with five clubs, including Real Madrid. But, since moving to Valladolid two and a half years ago, he has found a solid footing.

In January 2022, the Spanish defensive sensation made his first-team debut for Valladolid. And he’s come a long way since making his La Liga debut earlier this season. Fresneda has made seven appearances this season and is now an Albivioletas regular. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid showing an interest in him.

Due to Dani Carvajal’s poor performances, Real Madrid will most likely look for a right-back next year. Since overcoming his injury nightmare, the veteran Spaniard has gone hot and cold. Furthermore, Lucas Vazquez has been inconsistent, and Alvaro Odriozola is not in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

As a result, the reigning La Liga champions have targeted several right-backs, including Jeremie Frimpong. And, given his ability to provide Real Madrid with over a decade of service, Ivan Fresneda is also a viable target. The 18-year-old can learn from Carvajal before taking over as the team’s first-choice right-back.

Furthermore, the 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation is well established in La Liga and can hit the ground running if necessary. However, Real Madrid will face stiff competition for Fresneda. While clubs from all over Europe are interested, several Premier League clubs can compete with Real Madrid.

It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can beat out the stiff competition for Fresneda’s signature.
