Manchester United are reportedly close to landing Welsh talent Gabriel Biancheri from Cardiff.

Manchester United have reportedly secured the services of Gabriele Biancheri from Cardiff City on a long-term contract. The talented striker, who has three caps for Wales U17s, is set to join the Red Devils’ setup after making a name for himself in the Bluebirds’ youth academy.

While it is highly unlikely that Biancheri would have broken into the first team under Sabri Lamouchi for the rest of the season, it is a major disappointment for fans who were excited about his potential to see him leave at such an early stage.

However, it is a proud moment for the South Wales academy, who have produced a player of such high quality that a club the size of United are interested in acquiring.

Biancheri’s future at Old Trafford is still uncertain, with the 16-year-old likely to compete for a place in the club’s U18 side. Despite his young age, he has already shown great promise in front of goal with four strikes in four games for Cardiff’s U18 side.

United will compensate Cardiff for the striker and it remains to be seen how Biancheri will develop in the long term, but his potential in front of goal may have been what convinced the Red Devils to make the move this month.
