Kostas Tsimikas explained the difficulties it takes to play at the left-back for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool system.

Tsimikas: “It’s certainly very demanding as the manager wants you to attack and defend with the same power.”

“You need to get forward and create chances, but you also need the same focus and determination to get back and defend every attack from the opponent.”

“I think it’s the most demanding position in a Klopp team but it’s also exciting because you are always involved in the games and I’m happy about that. I have the same love for attacking and defending. I try to do both elements with the same intensity.”

“I needed time at the start to learn the gameplay of the team and I’d watch how Andy and Trent move on the pitch, when they go forward, when they drop back. Now I feel like I’m at a good level when I play.”

“For me, assisting a goal is as good as scoring. It’s what I love to do. It’s such an important part of my game.”

“Before I make a cross, I always look up to consider what options are available. It’s not a case of just hitting it into a particular area and hoping someone will get there.”

Tsimikas continued: I and Robbo have a really good relationship. We learn from each other, the manager always have to decide who is in the best shape for each game. That’s fair. The team always comes first. The most important thing is winning.”
