Kyrie Irving could sign a new contract with the Nets with a 15% bonus
Under the current agreement, Irving has a $36.7 million player option for next season. If that option is activated, he could extend his contract this summer.
Kyrie has missed most of the Nets’ home games this season due to a vaccination waiver. It was previously reported that the club could trade the player this summer.
“Most likely he will stay. I would give him the same salary as he is now. They could offer him a contract below max with bonuses that allow him to max out.
This year the bonuses are capped at 15% of his annual salary. He would have to give up the player option and negotiate a new contract on those terms,” said an anonymous NBA functionary.
