Highly rated 21 years old talent set to join Wigan Athletic on loan.

Arsenal have made the decision to recall 21-year-old defender Omar Rekik from his loan spell with Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam, as the Gunners look to secure him more playing opportunities.

Rekik will now join Wigan Athletic on loan for the remainder of the season, reuniting with his Arsenal teammate Miguel Azeez, who joined the Latics earlier this month on a similar loan deal.

With a versatile skill set that includes the ability to play as a central defender, right-back and in a defensive midfield role, Rekik’s arrival will be a major boost for Wigan’s new manager Shaun Maloney, who is searching for several new additions before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night.
