Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag claimed Tyrell Malacia played well as a right-back against Fulham last weekend in the Premier League.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has rated Tyrell Malacia’s performance as a right-back against Fulham away from home last weekend.

Man United headed into the game without their first-choice right-back Diogo Dalot due to a suspension, having received his fifth yellow card in the Premier League against Aston Villa.

Dalot was poised on missing the game, limiting Manchester United’s chances of handing Aaron Wan-Bissaka his first start under Erik ten Hag.

However, the former Crystal Palace fullback couldn’t make the travelling squad to Craven Cottage due to some reason and Ten Hag was left to make a late change to his team.

The Dutchman decided to start Tyrell Malacia at the right-back position against Fulham and the former Ajax manager claimed the Netherlands international did well.

Malacia had played on the right-back position on a few times at United, so it wasn’t an unfamiliar task for the former Feyenoord fullback.

Speaking about his performance, Ten Hag told AD.nl: “(Tyrell Malacia) did a great job — I had already seen at training that he can do that just as well as at left back. He can also play well on the right.

“Of course there are points if you are left-legged and play on that flank that it is more difficult, but he has found the balance well.”
