Djokovic spoke about the idea of boycotting Wimbledon due to the removal of the Russians
“Athletes are here to play sports. If we remove them just because they represent a certain country, it will be a bad decision.
We need a link to Wimbledon. I’m not in the negotiations like 10 years ago and I haven’t spoken to the Wimbledon representatives, but I was told they are very strict, ” Tennis.com quoted Djokovic as saying.
The Serb also spoke about his attitude to a possible boycott of the tournament.
“A boycott is a very aggressive thing, so there must be much better solutions.”
Earlier, the All England Club decided to remove tennis players from Russia and Belarus from participating in Wimbledon. The tournament in 2022 will be held from June 27 to July 10 in London.
