David de Gea sends new contract message to Manchester United amid Erik ten Hag’s decision

The entire team has been incredible, including the bench players. That means we’re doing really well as a team and everyone is ready to go.

Despite Erik ten Hag’s plans to sign a new goalkeeper, David de Gea remains optimistic about his contract negotiations with Manchester United.

The Spaniard’s contract at United expires at the end of the season, as the club declined to activate the one-year extension in his current deal. Instead, they are attempting to bind him to a new contract, lowering his salary in the process.

Ten Hag is also looking into bringing in a replacement, as De Gea’s style of play does not suit him. De Gea had a difficult start to the season, but has recovered admirably, keeping 13 clean sheets across all competitions.

While United have been linked with several goalkeepers, De Gea has insisted that talks between himself and the Red Devils are still ongoing. And he believes those talks will be fruitful, having admitted to enjoying his life at Old Trafford.

“We’re still talking about it. I’m just focused on the game, which is the most important thing, but I’m confident it will end well. I’ve been through a lot for this club. I’m enjoying it more now “De Gea stated.

“Winning games, especially at home, is exciting to watch. Everything, in my opinion: a good manager, good players who bring experience to the team, people who want the ball and play well with it. It’s a mash-up of everything.

“Everyone is prepared; even those who aren’t playing much are training hard and are prepared to play; it’s fantastic; we’re on a roll. It’s fantastic; the spirit is fantastic, and the atmosphere is fantastic.

“Everyone is thinking and acting in the same manner. Everyone has great team spirit, everyone fights until the end, and everyone is ready to perform well from the bench. It’s exciting to see the team play and perform well.”

De Gea shone once more as Manchester United held off Crystal Palace on Saturday. The win lifted them above Newcastle in the table, with De Gea praising his teammates for their tenacity in the face of a red card for Casemiro.

“It was difficult, particularly after the red card. I believe we had excellent game control. We scored early in the first half and continued to do so in the second half. We scored a second goal, but it was difficult after the red card “He went on to say.

“We fought until the bitter end, and I believe the team performed admirably. We were able to defend well because they put players in front of us. We gave up one goal, but I believe we took three points today.

“Certainly, losing Casemiro is difficult. Then they start attacking and score a goal with 15 to 20 minutes left, so I think we showed tremendous spirit and character today.

“The entire team has been incredible, including the bench players. That means we’re doing really well as a team and everyone is ready to go.”
