Liverpool’s Guinean midfielder Naby Keita is expected to leave the club on a free transfer in June 2023 and has been linked with Serie-A side AS Roma.

Naby Keita’s time at Liverpool appears to be coming to a close, with the Guinean midfielder set to become a free agent in June 2023. The 27-year-old’s contract with the Reds is set to expire and it’s unlikely that he will receive an extension.

Italian giants AS Roma have been linked with the player, who was expected to bring energy, skill, and creativity to Liverpool’s midfield when he signed for a fee of £52.75m.

However, Keita’s time at Anfield has been plagued by injuries and inconsistent performances, leading to him being unable to live up to his price tag.

Despite Keita’s undoubted talent, his injury-prone nature has likely been a factor in Liverpool’s decision not to extend his contract. The recent reports of his potential departure also suggest that his time at the club may be coming to an end.

It remains to be seen where Keita will end up, but he has the ability to attract interest from multiple clubs.

His next destination could well be Roma, with AS Roma Live via Liverpool Echo claiming that Keita could join forces with Jose Mourinho ahead of the 2023/24 campaign
