Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is focused on extending the contracts of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba after Gabriel Martinelli signed a new contract with the club until 2027 with an option to extend by another year.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has shifted his attention towards securing the long-term futures of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba following the successful negotiation of Gabriel Martinelli’s new contract.

The Brazilian forward has committed himself to the Gunners until 2027, with the club holding the option to extend the agreement for an additional year.

Martinelli, 21, has been in talks with the club since the beginning of the season and has already made a significant impact this term, with seven league goals to his name. The club’s new deal with the young striker was announced ahead of their trip to Everton.

Arteta expressed his delight at securing one of his key players, stating: “It’s great news for the club. We’re looking to build on the talent and youth within our squad, and it’s fantastic to see them happy and willing to commit to the club and our future plans.” He went on to acknowledge Martinelli’s potential and said, “Gabi has so much potential and there are so many areas he can improve in, but he’s already performing at a high level.”

With both Saka and Saliba also in discussions regarding their contract extensions, Arteta was relaxed about their situations, stating: “Part of our plan is to extend the contracts of our biggest talents and secure their futures at the club. We’ve started with Gabi and the others will follow when we reach agreements.”

Arteta has a less than impressive record at Goodison Park, having lost both of his previous games in charge of Arsenal at his former club’s home ground and will be looking to get a win against them when he takes his team to take on Sean Dyche’s Everton.
